Koç and Harvard meet at AyvalikKoç University cooperated with Harvard University, the leading educational institution of the United States. Each summer, The Summer School of “Ottoman-Turkish Language” for one and a half month, which was supported by Harvard University, has also a Turkish supporter this year(2000), Koç University. The Summer School whose founder is Prof.Şinasi Tekin, a professor at Harvard for 28 years and a leading Turcologist, and whose aim is to facilitate to teach “Ottoman-Turkish Language” comprehensively to the students of M.S. in Turcology around the U.S. has been teaching for 4 years in Türkiye, but has had some problems about scholarships. At the beginning of this year, scholarships’ problem had been passed over by a protocol signed between Koç and Harvard. According to the protocol, Koç University has supported many of the scholarships. Also, Koç University will construct a library and guesthouse near the building of summer school. There will exists 11 students (4 of them are Turks) at the Summer School of “Ottoman-Turkish Language” that will be in service from july 3 till August 15, has been opened by Prof.Seha Tiniç, president of Koç University and Prof.Şinasi Tekin. At the summer school, the lectures will be given in Turkish by lecturers including Cem Dilçin And Heat Lowry. |
